Project Background

Construction Details

St Augustines is a brand new, purpose-built 32-bed hospital specializing in psychiatric rehabilitation for men. It provides state of the art facilities for patients to assist them with their return to independent living. Many are from the local area and this new facility offers the perfect environment for their community- based rehabilitation. Dedicated clinical teams provide a multi-disciplinary input including occupational therapy, psychology, psychiatry and vocational training.

Within the hospital, all bedrooms have en-suite facilities. There are therapy rooms, kitchens and study rooms. Two TV lounges have Sky TV and Wii consoles for leisure purposes. There is a superb gym, an internet café and outdoor recreation areas. Where appropriate, access to the local community is an essential step along the pathway to rehabilitation, for both leisure pursuits and for social training, so the hospital is ideally placed.

This development was completed using Knauf MP75 one coat Spray plaster.

This can be sprayed up to 20mm in one application and completed within 120 minutes from start to finish. An MF ceiling system was installed and in some areas ply wood was installed before we fitted the plasterboard for added security. We also installed a grid ceiling within communal areas.

The external façade was a mixture of insulated anti crack silicone render (EWI system) and machine applied monocouche render to the rear of the building. The main curve to the front of this impressive building was completed using insulated render to enhance the thermal qualities within the building. Alongside all these new innovative products we also used traditional plastering and screeding techniques.
